I have no idea where is this painting but it is probably otherwise unknown Carl Schlösser’s best known work. His paintings are dirt cheap, and rarely fetch more than €4000 in auctions, but this one got reproduced in textbooks and postcards all over the world. It adds to the confusion that there is yet another and a very different German painter named Carl (or Karl) Schlösser (or Schloesser) [↩]
